Film Locations. Vanuatu is an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean north-east of New Caledonia, west of Fiji, and south of the Solomon Islands. Vanuatu is an archipelago of 83 islands. Vanuatu is best known for it's rainforest, Siri waterfall, lake Letas, Mount Garet, turquioise blue waters and volcanos. There are several active volcanos in Vanuatu, including Yasur on the island of Tanna, one of the world’s most accesible volcanoes, as well as several underwater volcanos.
Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.
When to shoot? Long shoot days all year around. The northern islands are tropical and southern islands sub-tropical. May to October is the dry season and November to April the wet season. The trade winds bring warm days and cool nights.

Costs. Locations and talent costs are inexpensive but since no filming infrastructure exists on the island all crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable. Day rates are
very reasonable and negotiated on a personal basis.
Casting facilities are undeveloped in Vanuatu so street casting is required.
There are very few non-Melanesian looks available locally so those need to be brought in from abroad.
Creative talent. Vanuatu has a no pool of local directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.

Crews and Equipment. All need to be flown in.
Art department and set construction is very minimal.
Studios and Backlots don't exist.
Tax Incentives. There are no tax incentives for feature films or
commercials shooting in Vanuatu.

Visas and Work Permits. Only certain countries need visas and there is
no need for work permits. Contact your local Vanuatu embassy / representative for more information.
Transportation Infrastructure. Local roads are basic. Dometically Vanuatu is serviced by Air Vanuatu and Unity Airlines. Internationally it is serviced by Air Vanuatu, Unity Airlines, Air Pacific, Air New Zealand, Aircalin and Pacific Blue.
