Film Locations. Roman ruins - the ancient cities of Damascus, Aleppo, Bosra and Palmyra. Crusader castles, medieval souks, beaches, rivers, desert looks, agricultural farms, mountains.
Syria is a regional centre for Arabic TV drama productions and period pieces.
Permits. Obtaining a permit is completely up to the whims of the government official you are dealing with. Filming oil facilities is not allowed.
When to shoot? Mediterranean coast with hot, dry summers (June to August) and mild, wet winters (December to February). Desert with hot summers and cold winters. Snowfall is common in winter on the mountains.

Costs. Locations, local talent and support crew are inexpensive but since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable. Syria offers mainly Arabic looking talent. All other talent needs to be brought in from abroad.
Syria has no local pool of directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.

Crews are non-union. Key crew should be brought in from abroad.
Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.
Equipment. Some very basic equipment is available locally. You will need to bring in most equipment from abroad.
Art department and set construction is very basic.
Studios. Only basic facilities belonging to local TV stations exist.
Backlots. None exist at present.
Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign
commercials or films shooting in Syria.
Film Stock. Must bring from abroad.
Post Production. No labs exist locally. We post abroad.
Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local Syrian embassy or representative for more information.
Transportation Infrastructure. Roads are up to international standards. Several international airlines service flights to Syria.
