Sudan

Film Locations. The terrain is generally flat plains, broken by several mountain ranges. The Blue and White Niles meet in Khartoum to form the River Nile. Lake Nubia on the Sudanese-Egyptian border. In the north there is the very dry Nubian Desert. In the south there are swamps and rainforest. The dry regions are plagued by sandstorms which can completely block out the sun. Crops grow next to the river Nile. Red Sea coral reefs. Hydro electric dams. Ancient and Medieval Nubian archaeological sites - Meroe, Jebel Barkal, Temple of Amun.

Khartoum is the capital city and most likely place to base your production.

Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.

When to shoot? Sudan has a tropical climate. Sudan has hot, rainy summers and warm, dry winters. There is more rain in the south and less in the north. Sudan’s rainy season lasts for about three months (July to September).

For monthly weather statistics please see here.

Please contact us for more specific weather and sun path information.

Costs. Locations, local talent and support crew are inexpensive but since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad.

Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable.

Sudan has many unique tribal cultures. Sudan predominantly consists of black, Arab and Beja looks. All other talent needs to be brought in from abroad.

Sudan has no local pool of directors, directors of photography and stills photographers. Its close proximity to Dubai allows easy access to that pool of creative talent should you ever need to look further.

Please contact us for recommended directors, DoP's and photographers for your project.

Crews are non-union. Key crew should be brought in from abroad.

Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.
