Film Locations. The terrain is generally tropical forest, swamps, and grassland. The White Nile passes through South Sudan. South Sudan's Boma National Park, Sudd wetland and Southern National Park host the second largest wildlife migration in the world. South Sudan has Africa's largest teak plantation.

Juba is the capital city and most likely place to base your production.

Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.

When to shoot? South Sudan has a tropical climate. South Sudan has hot, rainy summers and warm, dry winters. There is more rain in the south and less in the north. South Sudan’s rainy season lasts for up to six months (June to November).

Costs. Locations, local talent and support crew are inexpensive but since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad.

Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable.

South Sudan has many tribal groups. Nilotic tribes include the Dinka, Shilluk and the Nuer with the Dinka being the largest tribe. The Acholi and Lotuhu live in the extreme south. All other talent needs to be brought in from abroad.

Sudan has no local pool of directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.

Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.

Equipment. You will need to bring in all equipment from abroad.

Art department and set construction is very basic.

Studios and backlots. None exist at present.

Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign commercials or films shooting in Sudan.

Film Stock. Must bring from abroad.

Post Production. No labs exist locally. Must post abroad.

Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local South Sudanese embassy or representative for more information.

Transportation Infrastructure is quite basic. Most roads are unsealed and damaged. Several international airlines service flights to South Sudan.

Safety. South Sudan is the world's newest country. South Sudan is currently not a safe place for foreign visitors. If you must shoot in Sierra Leone then appropriate personal security measures are recommended.
