Film Locations. Mainly plateaus, plains, and highlands. Beaches and rugged coastal looks. Mogadishu Bakara Market and Old City.
Mogadishu is the capital city and most likely place to base your production.
Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.
When to shoot? Somalia has a tropical climate with little seasonal change. North-east monsoon from December to February has moderate temperatures in north and very hot in south. South-west monsoon from May to October has torrid in the north and hot in the south, irregular rainfall, hot and humid periods between monsoons.

Costs. Locations, local talent and support crew are inexpensive but since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable.
Somalia offers mainly Somali looking talent with some Arab and Bantu looks also available. All other talent needs to be brought in from abroad.
Somalia has no local pool of directors, directors of photography and stills photographers. Its close proximity to Dubai allows easy access to that pool of creative talent should you ever need to look further.

Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.
Equipment. You will need to bring in all equipment from abroad.
Art department and set construction is very basic.
Studios and backlots. None exist at present.
Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign
commercials or films shooting in Somalia.
Film Stock. Must bring from abroad.
Post Production. No labs exist locally. We post abroad.
Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local Somali embassy or representative for more information.
Transportation Infrastructure is quite basic. Most roads are unsealed and damaged. A small handful of airlines service flights to Somalia.
Accommodation. No hotels to recommend. Probably safest to stay as a guest in a private home.
Communication. Web posted casting, scouting and videoconferencing.
Safety. Somalia is at present a very dangerous place for foreigners to visit. If you must shoot in Somalia appropriate personal security measures are essential.
