Belfast has some crews and equipment but productions often consist of a combination of local and Dublin based suppliers.

Permits in the cities generally require a minimum of 2 weeks notice however in certain circumstances this process can be reduced to 7 days. Films are generally free to shoot anywhere however commercial shoots are restricted from shooting on certain national sites such as government buildings.
When to shoot? Northern Ireland has a temperate maritime climate with wet winters and warm often humid summers.

Costs. Northern Ireland trades in the GBP. It is similar in costs to its Western European neighbors.

Creative talent. Northern Ireland has a small pool of local directors, directors of photography and stills photographers. Its close proximity to major European production centres allows easy access to those pools of creative talent should you ever need to look further.

Crews are of a high international standard. There is some crew in Belfast and the rest of the crew is usually brought in from Dublin. Crews are also in unions however there is enough flexibility and we are able to package deals.

Premiums.
Basic shoot day - 8 hours.
Lunch - 1 hour (unpaid) which must be after 5 hours from unit call.
Night shoots - Overtime charged at 1.5 until midnight and double time after midnight.
Weekend work is charged at 1.5 for Saturday and double time for Sunday.
Bank Holiday work is charged at 1.5

Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign
commercials of films shooting in Northern Ireland.
Film Stock. Both Fuji and Kodak are available locally.
Post Production. There are no labs in Northern Ireland at present. Best to process in London.
Visas and Work Permits. Northern Ireland is a member of the EU. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local British High Commission for more information.
Transportation Infrastructure. Roads are up to expected European standards. Several international and budget airlines service flights to Northern Ireland.
