Nouakchott is the capital city and most likely place to base your production.
Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.
When to shoot? Most of Mauritania has a Sahara desert climate characterised by very hot days and very cold nights. Southern Mauritania has a rainy season from July to October. Winds moderate the temperature in the coastal region, which is arid.

Costs. Locations, local talent and support crew are inexpensive but since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad. Many of the locations are quite far from any major cities which can add considerably to travel costs.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable.
Mauritania offers mainly North African (Moors / African) looking talent. All other talent needs to be brought in from abroad.
Mauritania has no local pool of directors, directors of photography and stills photographers. Its close proximity to major European production centres allows easy access to those pools of creative talent should you ever need to look further.

Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.
Equipment. You will need to bring in all equipment from abroad.

Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign
commercials or films shooting in Mauritania.
Film Stock. Must bring from abroad.
Post Production. No labs exist locally. We post abroad.
Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local Mauritanian embassy or representative for more information.
Transportation Infrastructure is all up to known and expected world
standards. Air Mauritanie fly domestically. Several international airlines service flights to Nouakchott.
