Marshall Islands
Film Locations. The Marshall Islands are a Micronesian nation in the Western Pacific Ocean, located north of Nauru and Kiribati, east of the Federated States of Micronesia and south of the U.S. territory of Wake Island. The country consists of 29 atolls and 5 isolated islands.
Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.
When to shoot? Long shoot days all year around. Typical Pacific island weather with warm clear days and stormy evenings. The climate is hot and humid, with a wet season from May to November.
Costs. Locations and talent costs themselves are inexpensive but since no filming infrastructure exists on the Island all crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad. It is possible to get similar location looks that are closer to less expensive and better serviced production centres.

Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable. Day rates are
very reasonable and negotiated on a personal basis.
The Marshall Islands offer Micronesian looking people. All other talent looks need to be brought in from abroad.
Creative talent. The Marshall Islands have no pool of local directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.

Crews and Equipment. All need to be flown in.
Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.
Art Department and set construction are very minimal.
Studios and Backlots don't exist.
Tax Incentives. There are no tax incentives for foreign feature films or
commercials shooting in the Marshall Islands.
Film Stock and Post Production. None available locally.
Visas and Work Permits. Only certain countries need visas and there is
no need for work permits. Contact your local Micronesian embassy / representative for more information.
