Permits. Macau is a busy compact city that can be quite restrictive to film in. Permission is determined on a case by case basis.

When to shoot? Macau's climate is sub-tropical. November - December are the best months for filming with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperature. January - February are colder and more cloudy. March - April becomes more humid with occasional fog affecting visibility. May - October have the monsoon rain and hot / humid weather.

Costs. Macau is generally a little more expensive than Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.

Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable.

Hong Kong is the closest major centre for casting talent looks. Hong Kong offers a great depth of Asian and Eurasian looking talent. There is also a considerable pool of international models and actors who live and work in Hong Kong for extended periods of time.

Creative talent. Macau has no pool of local directors, directors of photography and stills photographers. Its close proximity to Hong Kong allows easy access to those pools of creative talent should you ever need to look further.

Art department and set construction are of a high standard but are expensive relative to most of the rest of Asia.

Studios and backlots. No options exist. Closest studios are in Hong Kong.

Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign commercials or films shooting in Macau.

Film Stock. Must bring in. Hong Kong is the closest major production centre.

Post Production. Best to post abroad. Hong Kong is the closest service centre with a lab and post facilities.

Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local Macau embassy or representative for more information.

Transportation Infrastructure
. Main roads are up to international standards. Several international airlines service flights to Macau. The boat trip from Hong Kong to Macau takes about 1 hour.
