Film Locations. Picturesque mountains, glaciers, lakes, rivers. Ski resort. Mosques. Soviet architecture.
Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.
When to shoot? Kyrgyzstan's climate is extremely diverse due largely to its mountainous landscape. Most of the country is temperate with little rainfall and lots of sunshine, but the south-western Ferghana Valley area is subtropical with very hot summers. There are heavy snowfalls during winter.

Costs. Since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew, equipment and talent are best brought in from abroad. This can add considerably to the cost of shooting. Almaty in Kazakhstan is the closest place with equipment and crews.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable. The nation's largest ethnic group are the Kyrgyz, a Turkic people. Other ethnic groups include Russians and Uzbeks. All other talent looks need to be brought in from abroad.
Kyrgyzstan has no pool of directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.

Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.
Equipment. Some very basic equipment is available locally. You will need to bring in most equipment from abroad.
Art department and set construction is very basic.
Studios and backlots. None exist at present.
Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign
commercials or films shooting in Kyrgyzstan.
Film Stock. Must bring from abroad.
Post Production. No labs exist locally. Post abroad.
Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local Kyrgyzstan embassy or representative for more information.
Transportation Infrastructure. Main roads are up to international standards. Several international airlines service flights to Kyrgyzstan.

Safety. On the whole Kyrgyzstan is safe for foreigner productions to visit. At present Kyrgyzstan's border areas with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are potentially dangerous areas to visit. If you must shoot in these areas appropriate personal security measures are recommended.
