Permits. Film friendly government agencies. Permitting is a straight forward process. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.

When to shoot? Jamaica has a tropical climate with year round constant high temperatures and humidity and no seasonal variation. When it does rain, showers are short, heavy and followed by sunshine. The rainiest weather occurs in May and June and later in October and November. Tropical storms and hurricanes can occur between July and November.

Costs. The greatest cost is the need to bring in your key crew and some equipment but that is offset by the low costs of local talent, locations and supporting crew.

Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable.

Jamaica offers mainly Afro-Caribbean looking talent. All other talent looks need to be brought in from abroad.

Jamaica has no local pool of directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.

Crews are non-union. Key crew must be brought in from abroad.

Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.

Art department and set construction is very basic.

Equipment. Standard grip and lighting equipment is available in Jamaica. All eles needs to be brought in from abroad. Additional equipment brought in to the country will be allowed to enter duty free.

Studios and backlots. None exist at present.

Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign commercials or films shooting in Jamaica.

Film Stock. Must bring from abroad.

Post Production. No labs exist locally. Post abroad.

Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local Jamaican embassy or representative for more information.

Transportation Infrastructure. Main roads are up to international standards. Several international airlines service flights to Jamaica.
