Film Locations. Much of the country consists of flat, or rolling plateau savanna. Chutes De Boali waterfalls. Dzanga-Sangha National Park in the south west of the country has gorillas and elephants. Rivers, rainforests, desert. Unique tribal villages.
Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.
When to shoot? The climate is tropical and hot all year. Dry season is from April to November. Especially hot in the north, with greater humidity in the south. The rainy season is mainly from May to October. Heavy rainfall is typical in the southwestern forest areas. Best to visit in the dry season as the wet season has a higher risk of contracting malaria and is difficult to get around the country since roads are closed to prevent damage.

Costs. Locations, local talent and support crew are inexpensive but since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad. CAR is a landlocked and remote country. The lack of air access makes it an expensive destination to travel to.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable.
CAR has 80 African ethnic groups. The population is mostly young. All other talent needs to be brought in from abroad.
CAR has no local pool of directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.

Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign
commercials or films shooting in CAR.
Film Stock. Must bring from abroad.
Post Production. No labs exist locally. Post abroad.
Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local CAR embassy or representative for more information.
Transportation Infrastructure is quite basic. Roads are often closed in the wet season until it is dry enough for vehicles to pass. CAR is a landlocked and remote country, and a lack of air access makes it an expensive destination to travel to.

Safety. We strongly advise you not to travel to CAR at this time, with the exception of the capital Bangui, due to the activities of rebel groups and rogue security and military forces, and high levels of serious crime and lawlessness. If you must shoot in CAR then appropriate personal security protection measures are recommended.
