Film Locations. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a mostly landlocked country, except for 26 kilometres of the Adriatic Sea coastline. The interior of the country is mountainous in the center and south, hilly in the northwest, and flat in the northeast. Bosnia is known for its mountains, national parks, rivers, lakes, forests, waterfalls, countryside, bridges, traditional villages. Despite seeing significant damage during the Balkans War, most of Sarajevo was rebuilt and repaired by 2003. Remnants of the war can still be found should you require those looks. Sarajevo is one of the few places on earth that you can find an Orthodox church, Catholic church, mosque and a synagogue within walking distance of each other.
Permits. No extraordinary restrictions or rules apply. Permitting in
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a very straightforward process.
When to shoot? Bosnia has a moderate continental climate, marked by hot summers and cold, snowy winters. The smaller Herzegovina in the southern tip of the country has a Mediterranean climate.

Costs. Locations, local talent and support crew are inexpensive but since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable. Day rates are very reasonable and negotiated on a personal basis.
Casting facilities are undeveloped in Bosnia and Herzegovina so street casting is often required.
Bosnia and Herzegovina offers mainly Bosniak, Serb and Croat looks. All other talent looks need to be brought in from abroad. Its close proximity to major European production centres allows you easy access to those pools of talent should you ever
need to look further.

Fringes and Premiums. No hidden extras. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.
Equipment. Only the most basic equipment is available locally. Best to bring in all equipment from abroad.
Art department and set construction are basic.
Studios and Backlots. None exist at present.
Tax Incentives. At present there are no tax incentives for foreign
commercials or films shooting in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Film Stock. Must bring from abroad.
Post Production. No labs exist locally. Post abroad.
Visas and Work Permits. Entry is subject to regulations from country of origin. Contact your local Bosnian embassy or representative for more information.
Transportation Infrastructure. Main roads are in a fair condition. Rural roads are slower going and in a poor condition. Several international airlines service flights to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
