Bolivia

Film Locations. Andes mountain range. Amazon rainforest. Inca ruins. Valle de la Luna. Lake Titikaka - the highest lake in the world. Copacabana. The Witches Market. Jesuit Missions. Colonial architecture. El Cristo de la Concordia. El Pantanals - the world's largest wetland. La Paz is the highest capital in the world. National parks, waterfalls, rivers, lakes.
The Salar de Uyuni salt plain is a particular location of interest. To film this location you will most likely fly into La Paz and then 4WD down to Uyuni. Uyuni has very basic facilities so any supporting crew will also come from La Paz. Film permits for the Salar de Uyuni are inexpensive, quick and easy to obtain. Travel from Uyuni to suitable salt plain locations is roughly 1.5 hours by 4WD.
Permits. Most locations are possible given time, money and the right approach.
When to shoot? Climate varies greatly throughout Bolivia. The warm wet summer months are from November to March. The cold dry winter months are from April to October. The highlands are cold and snowy in the winter whereas winter in the south is temperate.
For monthly weather statistics please see here.
Please contact us for more specific weather and sun path information.
Costs. Local costs such as talent, supporting crew and locations are very competitive. Since little to no filming infrastructure exists all key crew and equipment must be brought in from abroad.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable. Most citizens are of Amerindian (mainly Aymaras, Quechuas, and Guarani) and Mestizo descent. All other talent looks need to be brought in from abroad.
Casting facilities are undeveloped and street casting is often required.
Creative talent. Bolivia has no pool of local directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.
Please contact us for recommended directors, DoP's and photographers for your project.
Crews are non-union. Key crew should be brought in from abroad. Pool of good local support crew is small.
Fringes. No hidden extras.
Premiums. No fixed premiums apply. We package deals for local crew / talent.
Equipment. Basic equipment available locally. All else needs to be brought in from abroad.
