Vienna is the main production centre so all needs to travel from there.
Permits generally require a minimum of one week to process.
When to shoot? Austria has a temperate continental climate, with warm, sunny summers. Alpine areas have more rain and lower temperatures. Winters are snowy.

Costs. Austria trades in the Euro. Austria is similar in costs to France and Germany. If shooting in Vienna, considerable cost savings can be made by running the production through Bratislava, which is only 60km from Vienna. Slovak crews, talent and equipment are far more cost competitive than local Austrian options.
Talent are non-union and buyouts are negotiable.
Most talent in Austria is Caucasian looking with some Turkish and Balkan looks also available. All other talent is best cast abroad. Austria's close proximity to major European production centres allows easy access to those pools of talent should you ever need to look further.
