When to shoot? Afghanistan has a continental climate with hot summers (peaking in July) and cold winters (lowest in January).

Costs. Depends on the project. Most local costs are inexpensive - locations, local crew and talent. The need to organize security and bring in all key crew and equipment is the major cost of shooting in Afghanistan. Hotel accommodation is also expensive.
Talent is non-union and buyouts are negotiable. Day rates are
very reasonable and negotiated on a personal basis.
Casting facilities are undeveloped in Afghanistan and street casting is required.
Afghanistan has an abundance of Middle Eastern and East Indian looks. All other looks must be brought in.
Creative talent. Afghanistan has no pool of local directors, directors of photography and stills photographers.
